Congratulations!!

Congratulations Lauren!!Adams youngest sister, Lauren, graduated from Lone Peak High School Thursday night. We are all so proud of her and are excited to see where she goes from here.

This little guy is our nephew. He distracted us through a good portion of the graduation, but don't worry laur, we didn't miss any of the good stuff :)

He is so much fun!! I wish he lived closer.

Lauren is in there... somewhere... singing in the choir.

I'm pretty sure she's on the front row of this picture. 700 graduates!!
I think... i could have heard wrong...

Congrats Lauren, we love you!!

Out side stuff

The past couple weeks for us, have been spent outside, with lots of fire. We have had so much fun with so many friends.

Our outdoor fun for the summer season started with us going up Provo canyon with the Ben & Laura and Mackay and Heather. We made tinfoil dinners, roasted marshmallows for s'mores and sat around talking and catching up.

Heather and Mackay's super cute little girl.

Laura's fire stick art. We tried to capture her spelling her name, but it didn't turn out as cool.

Memorial Day weekend was spent camping. The first night we camped with the boys from Adams work and some of the staff. we stayed up until at least 2, just sitting around the fire talking. The Telos people left the next morning, but we stayed and camped another night with our friend Aaron. It rained all day, but we found a good covered place to make a fire where we wouldn't get wet, but where we also wouldn't burn down the forest.

Building us a big manly fire :)

We came back Sunday afternoon, got all squeaky clean and laid around the rest of the day, just enjoying time together. Memorial day we had a BBQ and planned our camping trip that would start the next day with the Munz family.

Sad to say, I did not get a single picture of this trip. We had lots of fun. We had a late start Tuesday because both Adam and I had to work until about 6. we started up provo canyon, but it was too mudy for our non-4-wheel drive vehicles, so we went and found a nice campground up AF canyon. we finally ate around 830 and spent the rest of the night talking over the fire. Adam had to work the next morning, so I spent most of the day with Heather and Mackay, on a hike and we had a picnic. We ended the trip with steaks on our new grill.

That is us as of late and we hope to camp a whole lot more this summer.

Happy (super late) Birthday

Happy, super-more-than-two-weeks-late, Birthday to my sweetheart. I'm not that good with the camera. plus, as you read before, i'm sure you didn't really want to see his birthday pictures ;) I did get one picture that day though, so i don't completely suck, right?

Happy (late) Birthday honey! I love you!

Also, a big thanks to Jaren for getting me a sweet Boise State laptop backpack, the inlaws for the Bbq tools and my parents for the $ to go to our new fridge!

A Great Birthday

I know, I know -- It isn't usually me that writes the account of our lives on this blog, but it wouldn't really be fair if Erin had to brag herself about how awesome of a birthday she put on. I am not the easiest person to plan a birthday for because of a couple of different things. First, I like to buy things. When I want something, I buy it. If I see something that looks cool at the store, I get it. I don't really understand the concept of a "wish list" no matter how close we are to Christmas or my birthday. Erin has tried to train me, and I am getting better, but I am probably still one of the hardest people to shop for -- especially if you are wanting to surprise me. Erin loves surprises, everything about them. She loves the build up and the excitement. If I was buying her a present for our anniversary six months down the road, I could put it in the middle of the room, throw a blanket over it, tell her that is the gift for her and I could guarantee that she won't be looking under that blanket because it would SPOIL THE SURPRISE. This isn't how I function. I have a tendency to spoil the surprise without even trying. I like to make guesses and speculate. There have been several incidents where I've ruined the moment, all because I was impatient. I think it drives her nuts, but she is still good about it, she just has realized she has to play everything a little close to the vest.
Despite our contradictory dispositions, Erin came away victorious this birthday. After I bought a few items that she had as ideas for presents a few days before my birthday, she was still able to come up with some great ideas of things I really wanted, without actually knowing it at the time. It started the night before when I was imprisoned in my living room while she set up her elaborate scheme throughout the rest of the house. The next morning when we woke up, I was told to wait in bed while she finished the rest of the preparations. I could smell bacon -- one of the only things I like to eat in the morning and I got all excited. She came upstairs with bacon and strawberrys and she was dressed in a few different layers of clothing. After eating our light breakfast (we both don't really eat very much for breakfast), the surprise began. She had set up a bit of a "married" version of a treasure hunt. After receiving my first gift (a Boise State DVD season in review), I had to get my next clue from Erin. Without going into detail, by the end of the treasure hunt, she was no longer wearing as many layers as she was when she came in with breakfast. It was cool and suprising. She gave me different cards that had the locations of the gifts. I got lunch at Tucanos, a movie, and the grand daddy of them all - a new GRILL. She did a really great job planning the day and making it exciting. I never thought my first birthday as a married person would be this great. I just can't say enough great things about Erin and about how much thought she put in to making my birthday as special as it was despite the fact that I spend much of my efforts leading up to it trying to spoil her plans. I'll have Erin update the blog with some pictures as soon as she can come home and find the cord to the camera that I likely misplaced!

Soon to be....

HOME OWNERS!!! That's right, Adam and I are going to join the world of home owners. We found out today that they accepted out offer. It's a brand new home, still being built, in Springville. They are about a month away from being ready for us to move in. We are SO excited!!

Here are the before pictures. I will post after pictures, AFTER it's done :)

These pictures all look the same. I know. they are more for me than anything else, but isn't it so exciting?!

Lucky

Have you heard the song "Lucky" by Jason Mraz and Colbie Caillat? Don't you LOVE it? I sure do! I hear it and I can't help but smile and think how lucky I am that I'm in love with my best friend.

Do you hear me?
Talking to you
Across the water
Across the deep blue ocean
Under the open sky
Oh my, baby I'm trying

Boy I hear you in my dreams
I feel your whisper across the sea
I keep you with me in my heart
You make it easier when life gets hard

Lucky I'm in love with my best friend
Lucky to have been where I have been
Lucky to be coming home again
Ohhhohhhohhhohhohhohhhohh

They don't know how long it takes
Waiting for a love like this
Every time we say goodbye
I wish we had one more kiss
I'll wait for you, I promise you I will

Lucky I'm in love with my best friend
Lucky to have been where I have been
Lucky to be coming home again
Lucky we're in love in every way
Lucky to have stayed where we have stayed
Lucky to be coming home someday

And so I'm sailing through the sea
To an island where we'll meet
You'll hear the music fill the air
I'll put a flower in your hair

Though the breezes through the trees
Move so pretty, you're all I see
As the world keeps spinning round
You hold me right here right now

Lucky I'm in love with my best friend
Lucky to have been where I have been
Lucky to be coming home again
Lucky we're in love in every way
Lucky to have stayed where we have stayed
Lucky to be coming home someday
Ohhhohhhohhhohhohhohhhohh
Ohhhohhhohhhohhohhohhhohhohhohhoh

Cool Cats

Last night, Adam and I went shopping. We got a couple shirts, new shoes and a bag for me. Then we came across these gems. they were only $.47! we could NOT pass them up. Don't our cats look cool :)

Yes, we know these are 1. for dogs 2. completely ridiculous and 3. slight torture for the animals. but, for $.47 how could we pass them up!?

Camper wasn't a huge fan, not at first at least. she kept trying to back out of it, but it never worked.

It was easier to get on minnie. She got a little crazy, running around. then she'd just plop down and strike a pose. it was funny.

Professional

The other day at work, I got a phone call. To give you the visual I had of this person, I will show pictures.

He sounded just like Neil on Family guy

And when I heard him talk, I imagined Doug, the brother on 50 first dates

And here is how the conversation went

Hi! I have some questions about your printing
Ok, like what?
What do you do?
What do you need? I bet we have what you need
Pictures. I want pictures.
ok, What size do you need?
BIG! HUGE! MASSIVE! I want a huge picture! How much would that cost?
we can do that, what size are you thinking?
Huge! Poster size! Portrait size! I want a big picture of me on my wall! Do you take the pictures yourself?

**at this point, i have a big smile on my face, he is SO enthusiastic**

nope, I don't. You find a photographer, get the file, and I can print it as big as you want
as big as I want?!
as big as you want :)
Do you have problems with erotic pictures? would you be able to print that kind of stuff?
Depends on how erotic we're talking, but I'll let you know if it's more than we can handle.
I'm huge! you would love it. are you sure you could print it?
well with out knowing exactly what you need, it's hard to say, but, we can work with you
oh, well i'm not talking about naked stuff or anything, just, you know, me with my shirt off. wearing a pair of jeans. my pecs are huge! I want a big picture of me with my shirt off, hanging on my wall
We can definitely make that happen
wow. this is a dream come true. really, you don't know how much this means to me. it's a real dream come true! Have you ever had a dream?
yes, yes I have
well you are making my dream come true! Thank you! thank you! How long will it take
depending on how big you need it, it can be about a week, but first you need to get me the file to print it
really?! wow. that is awesome! thank you so much! you are wonderful! I will be in touch! you take care now!

I got off the phone and couldn't help but laugh. I kept my cool though, made sure he didn't know i thought he was completely hilarious, but i was stone cold either. I had fun with him. Then the phone rings again. I answer. It's a familiar voice, not the guy from the previous phone call, a customer/friend i had been helping

you are so professional.
uh, thank you
no, really, you are a very professional person
uh, ok.... thanks
you handled that so well. i don't know how you kept from laughing right out loud. i had to hold the phone away from my face so you wouldn't hear me laugh. really, you are amazing. I can't believe you held it together so well.

oh man. it was so funny.

Real Live People

Yesterday, Adam and I sat in the front-ish part of the chapel at church. For the first time on our own. We usually sit in the over flow part so we won't be noticed. But not yesterday. Yesterday was different. We felt as if we were real people. Real members of the ward. All because, I got a calling. They called my name in Sacrament. I stood up. People raised their hands for me. It was kinda cool. Believe it or not, it's my first married calling. Because I can kinda, mostly play the piano, I think it will be a kind of forever calling through out wards. That is, unless they have someone like my dad, then he can do it. But for now, all of my wards have been filled with kinda mostly piano players like myself. But still, I'm excited for this one. I've been called to play piano in sacrament, relief society, sunday school, Seminary and Young Womens. Now, I play in Primary. Cute little kids. Go me. I'm a realy live person in the ward now. :)

Dead

Remember how a couple weeks ago I did bootcamp work out with Kim? Well, we did it again today. Once again, I am dead. Maybe more dead than last time. We did lunges for a half a mile! Before I was even half way done, probably even before I was a quarter of the way done, I was wobbly. My legs were tired and wanted to stop, but I made them keep going. By the time we were done, my legs didn't know how to work any more. I tried to walk and my legs literally felt like noodles. my knees wobbled, my legs wiggled, and it was hard to keep myself upright. Then we went in the rec center and worked (hard) on our abs and arms. I still can't walk well. I could barley push the breaks when I drove home. I had a hard time going up the stairs and even harder time coming down. It takes so much effort to get up, and even sitting down takes concentration so I make it on the couch and not on the coffee table and then the floor. Thanks Kim, for killing me once again! really! i do appreciate you helping me get in shape :)

This is similar to how I was walking. It's pretty much exactly how I felt like I was walking.

NAKED

I did it... mostly. I (mostly) spring cleaned my house. Ok, so I just regular cleaned my house, but it sure feels good! My bathrooms are clean, the dishes are done, the floor is vacuumed, the kitchen is swept, my room is clean and ALL of the laundry is done. Every single piece of clothing, with the exception of what we wore yesterday, is clean and put away.
So I think we should just be naked for a week. I don't really want to do the whole thing again in a week.

Spring

Spring Cleaning
No, I haven't done my deep spring cleaning yet, though I hope to get it started this week. I just "spring cleaned" my couches. I saw a commercial for this new pledge product on Sunday and bought it Monday. It is magic. It is wonderful. It works. It will last for a while, I can tell. It was CHEAP too!! I am so excited to have found this. I would recommend this to anyone with cats. It is so much easier than vacuuming it. I love it.

Grass clippings
This morning on my way to work, I smelled my first fresh grass clippings of the year. How exciting is that? I LOVE that smell. It smells like spring is coming which means summer is coming.

Flip Flops
I wore flip flops to work today, and I don't regret it. My toes aren't freezing off. My feet can breathe!

Random Pictures

I still can't find my battery charger for my camera, but, I was able to pull up the pictures on my card. Here is what has happened that I haven't blogged about

Adam bought a gun (he actually bought it his last "bachelor weekend" while i was in Vegas with my mom and sister). When the weather is (was) nice, we would go out in the middle of no where and shoot it.

This was right around Thanksgiving time. My sister and I watched Adam, Sam and the boys from Telos play football
(I have blurred out and left out names of Telos boys, so no worries, no one knows anything about anyone)

Halloween/October. Yup, these are the only pics I got of halloween and my birthday. But Adam looks pretty good huh :)

Adam made a potato gun, so we took it out and shot it too. Adam's brother Lane and our friend Aaron helped us shoot stuff.

Boise!! Adam, Jaren and I drove up to Boise so we could go to a football game, then came back the next morning. We had a lot of fun and got to see some good friends, like Jordan :)

The only picture I got of Adams work christmas party. For the white elephant, we got a wedding dress. Adam tried it on. Isn't he pretty :)

I know, I'm pathetic, but these are the only pics (good, clear pics) I got of our first Christmas, but at least I got something right :)

And of course, our kitties. We love them. They love us. They are full of personality and are so much fun. We love them

pain = progress

Call me lazy, but I haven't worked out in... well, almost a year, and even then, I wasn't very good at going. I lack motivation. I need someone there, pushing me along. Doing it with me. I went for a "jog" with adam the other day. I made it 2 blocks and was tired, but jogged the 2 blocks back. I was pretty proud of myself, as pitiful as it was. Well, a friend of mine does her own boot camp work out twice a week. She invited me to go. (I can only make it once a week, but that's better than none right?!) I was super excited and nervous. When I work out, I tend to get whiny, but am always glad I went, just ask Tori ;). I think I did pretty well. I didn't do as well as Kim, but I did better than I thought I would. I ended up doing 2.25 miles (not all jogging, but most of it was heavier than I did, but I still kept up. She is pretty intense, and I like it. I don't really remember, but I think I may have whined a little too much, but Kim, i'm sorry if i did!! I'm glad you invited me to go! When we were done Saturday, I was sore, but not bad and then didn't even feel it the rest of the night. then Sunday morning, I got out of bed and almost fell over because my legs were so tired and achy and didn't want to hold my weight. My arms kill. Adam has to help me with my shirts. I can barely raise my arms past my shoulders. It's sad. I love it. No pain no gain right?!

An itch I want to scratch

I have a very domestic itch lately. I want to scratch it. I want to satisfy it. Sadly, I can't bring myself to do them. I want to make curtains, and throw pillows, and a quilt for my bed. I want to paint every room a different color. I want to plant flowers in front of my house. Heck, I want to plant lots of flowers all around the house, i love them so much! I want to make myself dresses and skirts. I don't have a sewing machine, so I can't make my curtains, pillows, quilt or clothes. I don't own my house, so I can't/won't paint the walls. I just might plant flowers anyway. they are always pretty. We are looking into buying a house, so I don't really want to get most of that home decor stuff done anyway, just to move and find out it doesn't work in our new home. I wish the weather was warm so I could plant some flowers and scratch my itch a little.

Today?

I think today is wrong. I am working. Shouldn't I be home, cuddling up to Adam? Under blankets? With chocolate milk? and our kitties? watching lots and lots of tv? maybe take a nice long, hot bath? order take out? do NOTHING all day? That's the way today feels like it should be. But no, I have to be an adult and work, so does Adam. Then I have to do more grown up things like grocery shopping, laundry and dishes. Maybe tomorrow...

Arizona

Adam and I got to go to Arizona so that our friend Jaren could see his family. I still can't find my camera battery charger, so I had to rely on my phone for pictures, but I didn't always have that with me because, well, a vacation isn't a vacation unless you ditch the phone.

Adam and I went through the Mesa Temple with some good friends from Scottsdale. It was so good to see them (again) and to go to the temple with them.

We had ice cream with a friend, Paige, that I met in Haiti. It was SO good to see her and catch up a little bit. I can't believe it's almost been 2 years since I was there. Crazy.

Speaking of Haiti. While I was there (in haiti), there was a boy, about 15, maybe 16, that fell in love with me. I'm not talking, a crush, I mean love. He told me that we were supposed to get married and have kids and that maybe we could when I got back to Haiti. After I left, he made a present for me and asked Paige to give it to me when she came back to the states. Well, she lives in AZ and i'm in Utah, so we don't see each other that often, but she took it anyway. So when I saw her, she gave me my gift (a beautifully made butterfly on a flower made out of the metal of an oil drum), and I asked how he was doing. Turns out that when he found out I was getting married, it really broke his heart, the other boys made fun of him and he decided he was going to become a priest and dedicate his life to the catholic church. Sad/Cute huh?

March 12 was Jarens birthday and our 6 months of being married mark. We celebrated by having dinner at my parents and I made a pretty dry zebra cake.

While we were in Arizona with his family, we went out to eat in celebration once again. They sang happy birthday and gave him balloons. This was how he wore his balloons.

On the drive home, we almost ran into the BIGGEST TUMBLEWEEDS EVER!!! We're driving along when Adam says "uh oh" and I look up just as these two HUGE tumbleweeds almost devour our car. They were each taller than the car and together were longer than the car. Adam sped up and missed them, but they almost drove us off the road. The unlucky car behind us did have to pull over to avoid being completely engulfed in them. This isn't the tumbleweed we came across, but this is how big they were!

We also ate at

One night we went to dinner at Texas Roadhouse Grill. There was an older guy going around making balloon animals and flowers and such. he came to our table and made me a rose. While making it, he asked adam where he works and stuff like that. When he heard that Adam works at a treatment center for boys, he told us that when him and his wife first got married, him and his wife applied to work at a treatments center, her as a secretary, him as a mentor. He had wanted to become a counselor. The place told them only one of them could work there. They decided that she would be the one to work there. It was all Adam and I could do to keep from asking "well, what did you end up doing instead" but then we remembered "oh ya, you became the guy that walks around making balloon animals" how sad is that?

The drive home kinda sucked because of the storms Utah decided to give us. We didn't get home until 1a.m. because of them.

Adam also played football and basketball with Jaren and his friends. I finished my book. We got to sleep in and lay around for hours. Watched the sunset. Ate out a ton, and got to enjoy being just me and Adam, while jaren was with his family. Overall, fantastic trip. Too bad it had to come to an end.
