Boise

This last weekend, Adam and I decided to take off for the weekend. Boise is one of our favorite places to go, so off we went. My sister has a friend in Boise, so we let her tag along so she could meet up with her friend. We floated the Boise River Friday afternoon. The river was wide and deep enough and not too cold. it was so much fun to just sit back and relax in our kayak as we floated down the beautiful river.

If you didn't know, we are Boise State fans. So when we found out they were letting people do self tours, we knew we had to go. I think there were 5 points on the self tour, but we only made it to the Blue Turf, which is all we really cared about anyway.
point one is at the Bronco Shop
point two is the hall of fame. in the showcase is the football from the amazing fiesta bowl game.

This is Adam doing a 40 yard dash. I love the excited little boy you can see in him in the last picture.
Adam is so proud to say he's from Boise. I learn more about him every time we go there. It's so fun to see him get so giddy every time we go back. I love him :)

Bear Lake

Every summer, Adams family and extended family go to Bear Lake for a week. There are lots of of people, lots of food, lots of water toys and lots of fun.

This is my nephew Blake. He six and awesome on the knee-board.
Blake was our flag boy. Such a cute boy!
Adam rocked the slolam. This year was his first try and he caught on quick
My FAVORITE shot!! I was taking a picture and caught it just right. hahaha i laugh ever time :)
Adam also tried out surfing. he, of course, did an awesome job!
I water skiied. i haven't been in 10 years, but i think i did pretty well and got up on my second try.
Adam doing a back dive
No water trip is complete without pulling someone in :)
CUTE babies!! the top 3 are my nephew crew, and the other baby is Adams cousins baby, Dawson. Cutest babies!! Babies look so funny and uncomfortable in lifejackets. Crew looks so big, sitting there all by himself in a life jacket. and i LOVE the look on crews face when we put Dawson next to him. love these babies.
His tounge was out for like, .024 seconds, and i caught it. such a cute baby
Check out this awesome sand castle Landen (8) built!!
My sister in law Lauren surfin'. She's so cute (and single ;) )
When we got back from boating, we found Landen pulling a couple younger kids, my (super cute) niece Savannah included, around the shallow end of the lake.

Fourth of July

We spent the fourth of July relaxing and taking it easy. We let the kitties play outside for the first time at the new house. They weren't too sure about it at first, but adapted quickly and loved it. when they are outside, i feel like i am watching two 2 year olds. "get back here!" "don't eat that!" "don't play in the road!" but they love to be outside
Cuddle/nap time after playing outside
That night my family came over for a BBQ and fireworks in the street. Sam and Adam were in charge of keeping them going. I don't think either of them cared too much about watching them, all they cared about was pyro end of things

They saved the bst for last. One that goes up in the sky and goes boom. The tube we used couldn't stand on its own, so Same and Adam had to hold it up. The put it down the tube and waited. after a couple seconds, adam realized it wasn't going up and he needed to get out of there. Sam stood there looking up and waiting. we all yelled for him to get out, he let go and started running just as it went BOOM! right in my front yard. it was so scary! it was one of those big ones that go boom in the sky. it went boom in my yard. thankfully no one was hurt.

Garage

Adam and I invested in some nice shelving in our garage. very worth it. now we can stay more organized (fingers crossed).

Moving

When we moved, we borrowed a trailor from a friend of ours. The garage we had, was a little one car garage. plus it had cabinets on one side and a bunch of junk on the other. we wanted to back the trailor into the garage. Adam backed the HUGE 20+ foot trailor into the tiny one car garage FIRST TRY!! he did so good. these pictures don't do justice the tiny space he had to work with. there was no more than 6 inches between the wheel and the edge. He's so good :)

While i was packing up, the kitties decided to help me. every single box i opened, one of the cats would jump in, and they wouldn't get out. at one point, minnie wouldn't get out of the box, walked around, and it fell off the table and she STILL wouldn't get out. silly kitties.
neither cat wanted me to pack or clean. when i was cleaning the tub, camper would first paw at me until i gave her attention, then i'd go back to cleaning the tub and she would start nibbling my leg until i paid attention to her again. they are like kids!

Ketchup time!!

It's time to "ketchup"! i am pretty behind on staying posted, but now, i will catch everything up!

Elder Scott Buxton

He came home! It is so good to have him back. He is tall and skinny, but he looks so good. We have missed him the whole time.

Welcome Home Scott. We are so proud of you.

P.S. His homecoming talk is tomorrow, Sunday June 28 at 12:50.
Please come. He would love to see you!!

Baby Names

No, I am not in need of baby names. Yet. No babies for us. Yet. Maybe later, but not now.

With that cleared up, I have thought about baby names. It's a hard thing. The baby will have to grow up and live with that name. I will have to not hate saying the name. it's an important detail. But maybe it's a whole lot easier than I think it is.

Take George Forman, for example. He has 10 kids. 5 boys and 5 girls. That's a lot of names to come up with. Not for George!! He just went ahead and named all 5 boys George. Done and Done.

Michael Jackson (rest in peace). The King of Pop. He avoided the same dilemma. 2 boys and 1 girl. Named both boys Prince Michael Joseph Jackson. He called the younger one blanket. awesome.

You probably already knew that, but i thought it was funny.

ha. ha.

good news all around!

We are in our house!! We are completely out of the other house, now I just need to get everything unpacked. Everything is so new and clean! I will post pics later. The cable/internet hit still hasn't come.

Our BRAND NEW fridge is coming in the next one to there hours. It is SO nice. I'm so excited for it to come. And to get my fridge food out of the sink..

We got the living room arranged so everything fits. I wasn't sure it would work with a sofa, love seat and a big recliner, but its all in and looks great.

Thanks to manly men (Adam andmy dad) and aleesa, my super heavy washer made it up stairs with no damage to the walls or washer. Wahoo!

The kitties adjusted fast to their new home. The cats I had growing up would hide and punish is for months if we moved. But not these cats! They love having so many boxes around to paw at and jump in.

Scott is coming home TOMORROW!! I can't believe its finally here. We have missed him so much. Its going to be so good to see him again.

I'll post more later when we have more than just my phone for internet.

Swine Flu Breeding Grounds

My little brother and sister went to EFY this past week. Because of the crazy swine flu stuff, everyone had to have their temp. taken and had to fill out a questionnaire about how they have felt for the last week and who they have hung out with. if you're feeling fine, why would you truthfully fill out that form if it meant you had to leave EFY? Clearly lots of people lied. or maybe just one really popular person. Lots of people had to go home mid week because they got sick. My sister came home today, with swine flu. my brother hung out with her all week, so we can only hope he gets it too. they went to efy in logan, so they have a 2 hour drive home, sharing the same air, practically touching the whole way. maybe my parents will get it too. wanna make things better? Scott comes home Thursday. maybe we can give him swine flu too. that would be awesome, huh?

But isn't that exciting? Scott is coming home. Soon. 5 sleeps soon. :D

In house news, yes, it's completely done. Yes, we have signed our life away. Yes, we have closed. NO we don't get to move in yet. because if they say "1-2 business days, but probably just 1" it really means "we're going to take the full 2 business days and we waited until thursday evening to sign so you have to wait the whole weekend to know anything". but it's ok. i'm staying positive. a little. we are GOING to move in on Monday. they might not have a choice. i may or may not have the garage code and i may or may not just start moving things in with or with out their permission.

Want more good news? ok, this is the cherry on top. the creme of the crop. the bees knees. our brokers office got broken into yesterday (or maybe the night before yesterday...) and ALL of the computers were stolen. I'm pretty sure those computers have more information about me than I even know about myself. Good thing we just spent ALL of our money on a house, now there's nothing left for them to take :)

Our house is pretty. Our love is much. Our kitties are cute :)

Shopping List

We were supposed to move into our house 2 weeks ago. 3 weeks ago, I stopped going shopping. I want to move as little as possible. I have done pretty good, using what we have to get rid of as much as possible. I have been to Walmart once in the last 3 weeks because things were taking longer and we ran out of milk. I bought 2 gallons instead of the normal 3. We also bought some pepsi, but nothing else (ok, so we bought 3 boxes of bullets too). Now we still don't know for sure when we will get to move in. we're hoping this weekend, but it might not be until early next week. I don't want to buy food. I need to eat food. My list contains these items that I am OUT of, not just low on.

Meat of any kind
cheese
Milk
eggs
bread
soups
ramen
mac and cheese
i have lots of noodles but nothing to put on or with them
nestle's quick (ok, we have a few more glasses worth left)
soap
shampoo
shaving cream
and much more...

basically, all the staples of life. at least we still have some pepsi.

I control the weather

I'm sorry, but it's true. Notice how today started out a little cloudy, but there was still the hope of a beautiful sunny day, but then it turned ugly, dark and rainy? That is my doing. That is how I am feeling today. Today started doubtful, but still hopeful that we would get the $6,000 grant for buying a new home. They were running low, but I still felt we had a chance. When I got to work, it had dropped from 115 left, to 20 left. That's when the darker clouds came out. I was still hopeful, less hopeful, but hopeful still. Now they are all gone. We didn't get it. Now, I don't feel all sorts of frustrated because I feel entitled to the money. I understand it is a gift and a blessing. I am frustrated that the people working for us, took their time, took a week and a half longer than they said they would. We did everything we were supposed to, but they slacked, and we paid.

It also doesn't help that we are supposed to be out of our current place Monday, but the earliest it looks like we can close, is Monday.

But all is well. Adam keeps reminding me of the good. We are still going to be home owners! of a BEAUTIFUL house. We have each other, and after all, it is only money. I love him.

I don't want to end the post with a downer, so I will share my experience getting make up a few weeks ago.

I went to Dillards to buy more foundation, because I was out. I had checked my empty bottle before I left, so I would know what shade to get, but it had worn off. I knew they would help me out and do a color match for me. So my mom and I headed off to the store. I told the girl behind the counter I needed to get new foundation. She asked what shade. I told her I couldn't remember and that it had worn off the lable, but I pointed to the bottle I knew it was in. She got very flustered instantly. She then handed me a paper and told me to pick the color i felt i was closest to, and then walked away. I am not even joking, these were the colors I had to pick from.
Orange and non-skin brown, apparently, are the new skin tones. I looked at the colors and looked at my mom. I thought the white paper it was printed on was a closer match than any of the color samples they had.

Congratulations!!

Congratulations Lauren!!Adams youngest sister, Lauren, graduated from Lone Peak High School Thursday night. We are all so proud of her and are excited to see where she goes from here.

This little guy is our nephew. He distracted us through a good portion of the graduation, but don't worry laur, we didn't miss any of the good stuff :)

He is so much fun!! I wish he lived closer.

Lauren is in there... somewhere... singing in the choir.

I'm pretty sure she's on the front row of this picture. 700 graduates!!
I think... i could have heard wrong...

Congrats Lauren, we love you!!

Out side stuff

The past couple weeks for us, have been spent outside, with lots of fire. We have had so much fun with so many friends.

Our outdoor fun for the summer season started with us going up Provo canyon with the Ben & Laura and Mackay and Heather. We made tinfoil dinners, roasted marshmallows for s'mores and sat around talking and catching up.

Adam crossing the freezing river

Heather and Mackay's super cute little girl.

Laura's fire stick art. We tried to capture her spelling her name, but it didn't turn out as cool.

Memorial Day weekend was spent camping. The first night we camped with the boys from Adams work and some of the staff. we stayed up until at least 2, just sitting around the fire talking. The Telos people left the next morning, but we stayed and camped another night with our friend Aaron. It rained all day, but we found a good covered place to make a fire where we wouldn't get wet, but where we also wouldn't burn down the forest.

Adam and I in our hammock between the rain

Adam relaxin

Building us a big manly fire :)

We came back Sunday afternoon, got all squeaky clean and laid around the rest of the day, just enjoying time together. Memorial day we had a BBQ and planned our camping trip that would start the next day with the Munz family.

Sad to say, I did not get a single picture of this trip. We had lots of fun. We had a late start Tuesday because both Adam and I had to work until about 6. we started up provo canyon, but it was too mudy for our non-4-wheel drive vehicles, so we went and found a nice campground up AF canyon. we finally ate around 830 and spent the rest of the night talking over the fire. Adam had to work the next morning, so I spent most of the day with Heather and Mackay, on a hike and we had a picnic. We ended the trip with steaks on our new grill.

That is us as of late and we hope to camp a whole lot more this summer.

Happy (super late) Birthday

Happy, super-more-than-two-weeks-late, Birthday to my sweetheart. I'm not that good with the camera. plus, as you read before, i'm sure you didn't really want to see his birthday pictures ;) I did get one picture that day though, so i don't completely suck, right?

Adam with his big manly man grill.

Happy (late) Birthday honey! I love you!

Also, a big thanks to Jaren for getting me a sweet Boise State laptop backpack, the inlaws for the Bbq tools and my parents for the $ to go to our new fridge!

A Great Birthday

I know, I know -- It isn't usually me that writes the account of our lives on this blog, but it wouldn't really be fair if Erin had to brag herself about how awesome of a birthday she put on. I am not the easiest person to plan a birthday for because of a couple of different things. First, I like to buy things. When I want something, I buy it. If I see something that looks cool at the store, I get it. I don't really understand the concept of a "wish list" no matter how close we are to Christmas or my birthday. Erin has tried to train me, and I am getting better, but I am probably still one of the hardest people to shop for -- especially if you are wanting to surprise me. Erin loves surprises, everything about them. She loves the build up and the excitement. If I was buying her a present for our anniversary six months down the road, I could put it in the middle of the room, throw a blanket over it, tell her that is the gift for her and I could guarantee that she won't be looking under that blanket because it would SPOIL THE SURPRISE. This isn't how I function. I have a tendency to spoil the surprise without even trying. I like to make guesses and speculate. There have been several incidents where I've ruined the moment, all because I was impatient. I think it drives her nuts, but she is still good about it, she just has realized she has to play everything a little close to the vest.
Despite our contradictory dispositions, Erin came away victorious this birthday. After I bought a few items that she had as ideas for presents a few days before my birthday, she was still able to come up with some great ideas of things I really wanted, without actually knowing it at the time. It started the night before when I was imprisoned in my living room while she set up her elaborate scheme throughout the rest of the house. The next morning when we woke up, I was told to wait in bed while she finished the rest of the preparations. I could smell bacon -- one of the only things I like to eat in the morning and I got all excited. She came upstairs with bacon and strawberrys and she was dressed in a few different layers of clothing. After eating our light breakfast (we both don't really eat very much for breakfast), the surprise began. She had set up a bit of a "married" version of a treasure hunt. After receiving my first gift (a Boise State DVD season in review), I had to get my next clue from Erin. Without going into detail, by the end of the treasure hunt, she was no longer wearing as many layers as she was when she came in with breakfast. It was cool and suprising. She gave me different cards that had the locations of the gifts. I got lunch at Tucanos, a movie, and the grand daddy of them all - a new GRILL. She did a really great job planning the day and making it exciting. I never thought my first birthday as a married person would be this great. I just can't say enough great things about Erin and about how much thought she put in to making my birthday as special as it was despite the fact that I spend much of my efforts leading up to it trying to spoil her plans. I'll have Erin update the blog with some pictures as soon as she can come home and find the cord to the camera that I likely misplaced!

Soon to be....

HOME OWNERS!!! That's right, Adam and I are going to join the world of home owners. We found out today that they accepted out offer. It's a brand new home, still being built, in Springville. They are about a month away from being ready for us to move in. We are SO excited!!

Here are the before pictures. I will post after pictures, AFTER it's done :)

These pictures all look the same. I know. they are more for me than anything else, but isn't it so exciting?!
