Random Pictures

I still can't find my battery charger for my camera, but, I was able to pull up the pictures on my card. Here is what has happened that I haven't blogged about

Adam bought a gun (he actually bought it his last "bachelor weekend" while i was in Vegas with my mom and sister). When the weather is (was) nice, we would go out in the middle of no where and shoot it.

This was right around Thanksgiving time. My sister and I watched Adam, Sam and the boys from Telos play football
(I have blurred out and left out names of Telos boys, so no worries, no one knows anything about anyone)

Halloween/October. Yup, these are the only pics I got of halloween and my birthday. But Adam looks pretty good huh :)

Adam made a potato gun, so we took it out and shot it too. Adam's brother Lane and our friend Aaron helped us shoot stuff.

Boise!! Adam, Jaren and I drove up to Boise so we could go to a football game, then came back the next morning. We had a lot of fun and got to see some good friends, like Jordan :)

The only picture I got of Adams work christmas party. For the white elephant, we got a wedding dress. Adam tried it on. Isn't he pretty :)

I know, I'm pathetic, but these are the only pics (good, clear pics) I got of our first Christmas, but at least I got something right :)

And of course, our kitties. We love them. They love us. They are full of personality and are so much fun. We love them

pain = progress

Call me lazy, but I haven't worked out in... well, almost a year, and even then, I wasn't very good at going. I lack motivation. I need someone there, pushing me along. Doing it with me. I went for a "jog" with adam the other day. I made it 2 blocks and was tired, but jogged the 2 blocks back. I was pretty proud of myself, as pitiful as it was. Well, a friend of mine does her own boot camp work out twice a week. She invited me to go. (I can only make it once a week, but that's better than none right?!) I was super excited and nervous. When I work out, I tend to get whiny, but am always glad I went, just ask Tori ;). I think I did pretty well. I didn't do as well as Kim, but I did better than I thought I would. I ended up doing 2.25 miles (not all jogging, but most of it was heavier than I did, but I still kept up. She is pretty intense, and I like it. I don't really remember, but I think I may have whined a little too much, but Kim, i'm sorry if i did!! I'm glad you invited me to go! When we were done Saturday, I was sore, but not bad and then didn't even feel it the rest of the night. then Sunday morning, I got out of bed and almost fell over because my legs were so tired and achy and didn't want to hold my weight. My arms kill. Adam has to help me with my shirts. I can barely raise my arms past my shoulders. It's sad. I love it. No pain no gain right?!

An itch I want to scratch

I have a very domestic itch lately. I want to scratch it. I want to satisfy it. Sadly, I can't bring myself to do them. I want to make curtains, and throw pillows, and a quilt for my bed. I want to paint every room a different color. I want to plant flowers in front of my house. Heck, I want to plant lots of flowers all around the house, i love them so much! I want to make myself dresses and skirts. I don't have a sewing machine, so I can't make my curtains, pillows, quilt or clothes. I don't own my house, so I can't/won't paint the walls. I just might plant flowers anyway. they are always pretty. We are looking into buying a house, so I don't really want to get most of that home decor stuff done anyway, just to move and find out it doesn't work in our new home. I wish the weather was warm so I could plant some flowers and scratch my itch a little.

Today?

I think today is wrong. I am working. Shouldn't I be home, cuddling up to Adam? Under blankets? With chocolate milk? and our kitties? watching lots and lots of tv? maybe take a nice long, hot bath? order take out? do NOTHING all day? That's the way today feels like it should be. But no, I have to be an adult and work, so does Adam. Then I have to do more grown up things like grocery shopping, laundry and dishes. Maybe tomorrow...

Arizona

Adam and I got to go to Arizona so that our friend Jaren could see his family. I still can't find my camera battery charger, so I had to rely on my phone for pictures, but I didn't always have that with me because, well, a vacation isn't a vacation unless you ditch the phone.

Adam and I went through the Mesa Temple with some good friends from Scottsdale. It was so good to see them (again) and to go to the temple with them.

We had ice cream with a friend, Paige, that I met in Haiti. It was SO good to see her and catch up a little bit. I can't believe it's almost been 2 years since I was there. Crazy.

Speaking of Haiti. While I was there (in haiti), there was a boy, about 15, maybe 16, that fell in love with me. I'm not talking, a crush, I mean love. He told me that we were supposed to get married and have kids and that maybe we could when I got back to Haiti. After I left, he made a present for me and asked Paige to give it to me when she came back to the states. Well, she lives in AZ and i'm in Utah, so we don't see each other that often, but she took it anyway. So when I saw her, she gave me my gift (a beautifully made butterfly on a flower made out of the metal of an oil drum), and I asked how he was doing. Turns out that when he found out I was getting married, it really broke his heart, the other boys made fun of him and he decided he was going to become a priest and dedicate his life to the catholic church. Sad/Cute huh?

March 12 was Jarens birthday and our 6 months of being married mark. We celebrated by having dinner at my parents and I made a pretty dry zebra cake.

While we were in Arizona with his family, we went out to eat in celebration once again. They sang happy birthday and gave him balloons. This was how he wore his balloons.

On the drive home, we almost ran into the BIGGEST TUMBLEWEEDS EVER!!! We're driving along when Adam says "uh oh" and I look up just as these two HUGE tumbleweeds almost devour our car. They were each taller than the car and together were longer than the car. Adam sped up and missed them, but they almost drove us off the road. The unlucky car behind us did have to pull over to avoid being completely engulfed in them. This isn't the tumbleweed we came across, but this is how big they were!

We also ate at

One night we went to dinner at Texas Roadhouse Grill. There was an older guy going around making balloon animals and flowers and such. he came to our table and made me a rose. While making it, he asked adam where he works and stuff like that. When he heard that Adam works at a treatment center for boys, he told us that when him and his wife first got married, him and his wife applied to work at a treatments center, her as a secretary, him as a mentor. He had wanted to become a counselor. The place told them only one of them could work there. They decided that she would be the one to work there. It was all Adam and I could do to keep from asking "well, what did you end up doing instead" but then we remembered "oh ya, you became the guy that walks around making balloon animals" how sad is that?

The drive home kinda sucked because of the storms Utah decided to give us. We didn't get home until 1a.m. because of them.

Adam also played football and basketball with Jaren and his friends. I finished my book. We got to sleep in and lay around for hours. Watched the sunset. Ate out a ton, and got to enjoy being just me and Adam, while jaren was with his family. Overall, fantastic trip. Too bad it had to come to an end.

Proud Day

Yesterday, I had the entire day off. I always feel so motivated when I have an entire day where I don't have to do anything. No prior commitments. No work. I get to plan my day the way I want it. I got SO much done!

I got ALL the laundry clean, folded and put away. That is kind of big for me. I usually get most of it clean and folded, then I start to cuddle with Adam and then I don't put any of it away and the last load in the dryer stays there till I do laundry the next week. Awful, I know. But, it's all done and away this time! What a good feeling.

As I have mentioned before, my mom is awesome. Besides the WWW Cookbook I mentioned last time, she also has 3 other books that she wrote. The teach you how to make and freeze 30 meals in one day. Maybe you knew that, maybe you didn't. Well, I've been to lots of the relief societies and such that she has taught. My mom has been doing it as long as I can remember. I have been out on my own for more than 3 years now. You would think that as the daughter of the author, I would have this down and done by now. Well, you would be thinking wrong. Yesterday with all my motivation, I picked out 5 assemble recipes and made a list of things I would need to make them. Coincidentally, my mom also needed to do some grocery shopping, so we went together. When we got home, we got to work and I am proud to say that after an hour in the kitchen, I now have 15 meals in my freezer. Now all I have to do is remember to take them out to thaw before I go to work. I made my mom real proud. Me too actually.

I also hung up a few pictures finally as well. Hooray for motivated days off!

P.S. I can't find my battery charger for my camera, so I am low on pics until it is found.

World Wide Ward Cookbook

Have you seen this book around? Maybe seen it on TV, or at Deseret Book, or Seagull Book and Tape, or even at Costco? Have you looked closely at it? Did you notice the name at the bottom? Did it click that the author and my mom have the same name? Oh wait, it IS my mom!! This book is SO awesome. It is full of recipes from members all across the world. Many of them even have stories to go along with them. If you do see the book (buy it) you can find ME in there. Picture and everything. Everyone that submitted a recipe that made it in the book, got a FREE copy.

Now you're thinking "man, too bad I missed out on that". Fret not!! It is not too late. They are doing another one. A Christmas one. The deadline is soon though. They want to have all of the recipes by April 7th!! Soon, I know. But how long does it take to type out your favorite Christmas recipe. Not long, that's how long. Click here to submit a recipe. They want as many recipes for the Christmas book so tell your friends, tell your family, tell... EVERYONE!! We want to get this passed as FAR as we can, so please pass it as far as you can. Don't miss out on this one!! If your recipe makes it into the book, you will get YOUR OWN COPY!! Don't forget! Don't put it off! Do it now!!

I know it's a little late to post this, but hey, better late than never, plus you never know who will read this before 10am. Good things Utah on Channel 4 will be interviewing my mom at 10 a.m. She will tell you all how fabulous the book really is. So again.

New Found Fear

Driving behind motorcycles. Especially on the Freeway. I do NOT want to be the first one that runs him (or her) over when they crash.

What a wonderful feeling

Adam was at work until late last night. That means I got things done. When he is home, I just want to be with him and would rather not do my chores.

On my way to leave for work this morning, it was SO nice to come down stairs and see a clean family room, and to look past it and see a clean table and then the clean counters, clutter free floor and an empty sink. what a happy feeling. then I go through the garage and see adams car. squeaky clean. I get to my car. squeaky clean too. yay for being clean!

Unfortunately I did not find my missing debit card while cleaning out the cars. last time i asked for a card, it took them 6 weeks to remember to send it.

Love day-the beginning

Today, I am trying really hard not to be sick. It's love day. It's our first love day as married people. I am sick in the nose and in the eyes. That's it. I'm willing it to go away and trying to pretend that it's not really there. That's how problems go away, right?

Good thing I have a good husband. He bought these for me yesterday NOT for valentines day. Because he is allowed to get me flowers on days that are not valentines. I think I will keep him.

Last valentines day, Adam was broken.

I just made us dinner, but didn't do anything else because I didn't want him to feel bad because he couldn't do anything for me, because he was confined to his chair. He surprised me and got me a tree of life ring. He ordered it online. It was pretty cute. Every day, after his surgery, he got so excited (both excitement for the ring to come, and also because he was loaded up with drugs) to go to the mail box to see if it had come yet. It was very cute. :)

The valentines before that was our first. We had just gotten back together-ish. I don't think we had the boyfriend/girlfriend titles back yet. We both had to work. We both had school, so we decided not to do anything special, just hang out when he got off work. I surprised him and filled his room with lots and lots of chocolate kisses.

This valentines, well, hasn't really happened yet. I will fill everyone in on how it goes. Later. It should be a good one. no, it WILL be a good one :)

Random thoughts and tidbits

about a week ago, I noticed that my right cheek had a bit of texture to the inside of it. I couldn't figure out why. Then I figured it out. I have a habit of biting my cheek. When I'm not doing anything, I bite my cheek. I know it started from my awful tooth experience. I bit my cheek to protect it from... anything. Now I can't stop. I catch myself doing it all the time.

Adam is the best. After baby sitting our friends 1 year old, I told him I didn't think I'd be able to do puzzles once we have kids. The next day he found this cool blow up roll up puzzle mat. now I can do my puzzle and then roll it up and put it in the corner when I'm done. He's so good. oh, and when i told him he could have saved it for Love day, he told me he is allowed to buy me presents whenever he wants. what a good man.

My nephew Ben is 4. 5. 4... either 4 or 5. Either way, he lives in Idaho so we don't see them on a regular basis. I am always surprised when he remembers me and gives me a big hug when we do see him. I got an email from his mom the other day, saying that Ben wanted our address to send Valentines. He also wanted to know when my birthday is. How sweet is that?! he remembers me when I'm not around. way to go Brandon and Stacy, you're kid(s) is/are cute :)

I love designing things. I love it even more when I get compliments. For example, I made stuff for a co-worker of adams, she loved it (correct me if I'm wrong kim... but not really, I like thinking you like it :D). Granted, she did tell me exactly how she wanted it and had exact measurements for me, but I enjoyed putting it all together. I also designed my friends daughters birthday invites. They turned out super cute. I also designed my blog background. I'm going to get more creative with it, I promise, but still, I did it, and I'm proud. I also made a cool book for my mom for her birthday. I designed every single page. she loved it. I'm proud of it.

I don't want to figure out dinner. I enjoy making dinner. I enjoy eating dinner. I don't enjoy making dinner at 6:30 when I've been hungry since 4. I'm sure I'll come up with something super creative and nutritious. like ramen. or mac & cheese.

I love adam. I love my kitties.

Puzzle

To go along with yesterdays post, I have a new one about Minnie.

Last night I started a new puzzle. I got the whole edge done and started working on the middle. Minnie came and at right in the middle of the finished edge pieces. I let her sit there since I was working on the bottom part anyway. Then it became a game to her. Every piece I would grab, she would try and bat it out of my hand to play with it. then she discovered that she could mess up the edge by pawing at it. She kept trying to get the pieces on the floor so she could throw them around. I kept putting her on the floor but she just jumped back up to continue playing. silly kitty.

sunday i started a puzzle. monday i came home to find pieces on the floor. then when i finished it monday night, there was a piece missing!! It is a brand new puzzle. The cats lost a piece to my puzzle!! but not for too long. i found it last night and finished it... so i could start another.

Silly Kitties

  1. 1. Last night Minnie decided she wanted attention. I was petting her with one hand and had a glass of chocolate milk in the other hand. One hand was not enough, she wanted both hands rubbing her. So she continuously head butted my chocolate milk hand. i wasn't putting down my milk, so she went to adam, sat on his lap. He also had chocolate milk in one hand and rubbed her with the other. She didn't like this, so she waited till he was taking a drink, then head butted his cup, making the chocolate milk spill all over him.
  2. If we leave Adams sock (top) drawer open, Minnie will take his socks out and put them on the floor, so she can play with them.
  3. Camper likes to lay on the arm of the couch with one front arm (leg?) hanging down the side. It makes her look very relaxed and comfortable.
  4. when adam and i cuddle in the morning, minnie likes to get in on the cuddle action and lays across both of us.
  5. Camper has to check at least 3 times before she will get on the bed or couch, just to make sure nothing has changed and there is still room for her.
  6. it's hard to scare either cat. if they start to eat from the bowl i just barely set down on the coffee table, i try to scare them away, but the will not budge, even when i'm pushing them away.
  7. Camper likes to eat potato chips
  8. Minnie likes bread/tortillas
  9. Minnie LOVES soft food and treats
  10. Camper loves the treats, not as much as Minnie, but only likes the juices from the soft food

Adam loves to play with the cats. It's so much fun to watch!

I have a much funnier video of Minnie and I playing with socks, but my phone won't let me send it anywhere... maybe some day i'll figure it out and show you. I really do love this one though. she LOVES socks. it's funny

I'm a follower

I can be a leader, if I want. And I don't really follow the crowd. I just don't like being in the front. I don't really enjoy being in the middle either. I would much rather be in the back. Back of the movie theater. Back of the bus. Back of the class. As I was driving to work, I thought of 3 instances that I am always in the back and very insistent that I am there.

1. When I'm driving. I drive 20 minutes to work and 20 minutes back every day. I see the freeway as kind of a race. Everyone is trying to beat the person next to them but trying not to get caught going too fast. I hate going slow, but I refuse to be the fastest person on the road. So I go the average speed of everyone on the road until someone passes me, then I immediately get behind them and go their speed. I follow them down the road. passing everyone. If the cops turn on their lights, it's for the guy in front of me, not me.

2. Disneyland. When we go to Disneyland, we take it seriously. We try to get as much fun packed into the day as we can. so we start in one "land" and work our way around, not skipping around and wasting time walking. My mom has always had the job of mapping it out. I used to walk up front with her, but then the kids would fall behind in their one slow speed. So then I took it upon myself to take over the back. In the back, i can push them along. I keep an eye on my mom so we don't get lost, but I pull up the rear, making sure no one gets left behind.

3. Skiing. As some of you know, I broke my leg skiing. I still enjoy going, but I don't go as fast as I used to, I am very cautious and I only really like to go once a year. When we do go, I insist on being the last one to go. I know i'm slower than everyone else, but if I go first, then I make them go slow and am afraid they will run me over. I also want to be able to help if anyone falls. This actually happened last year when we went. Adam fell and I was right there to help him and sit with him till ski-bulance came. But, as long as I can remember, I always make everyone else go before me.

yes, i may be weird, but... you love me....

Genetics? What a relief and IT'S A MIRACLE!

First of all, Genetics. What the heck. When I think of genetics, I think of hair and eyes and noses. I even think of tendancies such as anxiety and unmotivated..ness... that sort of stuff. When I think of cooking and following recipes, I think "it really isn't that hard, it's just a recipe. follow it" That's just how it is for me. Well, maybe cooking is genetic. maybe it comes easier to me, because it comes easy to my mom. My mom is a fabulous cook. Best I know. My mom tried her hardest to get me to cook and be interested in cooking when I lived at home. There was no interest. Then I moved out and had to cook for myself and BAM love to cook. I think (in the most humble of ways) that I'm a pretty good cook. I really enjoy showing off even (that might not be so humble, but you know you like it). Growing up, my mom always cooked and baked many lovely things. Cookies, were a whole different story. They always came out tasting great, but they were always flat. Chocolate chip cookies were flat with little bumps where ever there was a chocolate chip. Good tasting, weird looking. Well, last night, i attempted chocolate chip cookies (again), and what do you know, flat with little bumps where there are chocolate chips. You may be thinking "try a different recipe" or "make sure you measure with exactness" well, think again. My mom and I are both cookie challenged. We follow the recipe exactly. We have tried many different recipes. Heck, last nights cookies couldn't have been any easier. It was a bag mix. I heated the oven to exactly 375. i put in exactly 1 stick of butter and exactly 1 egg. I cooked it for exactly how long it told me to. They even looked good in the oven. how can you mess this up?! I don't know how, but I can and I did. It's genetic. My sister, did not get this gene. She can bake cookies and have them turn out perfect. Same recipe, same ingredients, same measuring utinsels, but hers always look better.

New subject. What a relief. So our first married ward was not a ward, but instead, a branch. The branch consisted of the newly weds with their brand new children and the old people who lived in the "senior living" section of our complex. So none of the members were planning on staying long. We went, enthusiastic, and I felt pretty let down. I'm sure the branch was full of wonderful people. I'm sure they were all really nice, but, none of them talked to me (us). The bishop didn't know us, not even the relief society president said a word to me. It was a hard place to be. Now that we have moved, we're in a real ward, with real people. We went to our ward for the first time today and AMAZING. The difference was unbelieveable. I had lots of people come up and introduce themselves and tell me (us) how happy they were that we're in the ward. The bishop wants us to come in so he can get to know us next sunday. Someone sat next to me in relief society today. There were lots of other seats she could have sat in, but she sat next to me. I hate first days. I hate the awkwardness. I hate not knowing how things work and who people are. I still don't know who anyone is, but they made me (us) feel comfortable to be there. I am very much excited to be a part of this ward.

The last of my rant, is bread. Bread is amazing. When I was packing up the food to move it, I came to my bag of brown sugar. it was pretty much just one big rock of sugar. I told my mom, who was helping me pack, to just throw it away. she said "on no, don't do that, just stick a piece of bread in it and it will soften right up." I know you're supposed to put a piece of bread in with the cookies to keep them soft, but i didn't know it worked with brown sugar too. I also didn't have much faith in the system. I thought it would make the little "rocks" a little more soft and the big one easier to work with. I took the brown sugar out to use it just now, and what do you know, it feels just like a brand new bag of brown sugar. you can't even tell. I am amazed. it's a miracle.

Welcome to the Family

As part of our sweet deal on our new home, we got 2 cats. I've never had a problem with cats. I have ALWAYS had at least one. Actually, I think I've always had 2. So I was excited to get them. Adam on the other hand, was a little more hesitant. He's never been much of a cat person, but said ok to the cats because 1. he loves me and I wanted them and 2. He was able to help out a friend by taking them. Adam and I quickly took to both cats, Camper and Minnie. Neither cat is shy, but Camper settled in to her new surroundings (same house, new people and stuff) quickly. She loves when we pet her and hold her. Minnie on the other hand, was a little "stuck up" and cautious. She'd only let us pet her when she wanted, and only for a few seconds, then she'd walk away.

Camper
Camper LOVES to have her belly rubbed. When she wants attention, she will run in front of us and then quickly lay down and roll on her back, so we will pet her belly. When you go up to her to pet her, she ALWAYS rolls onto her back for a good belly rub. It makes her long and skinny. Very cute. She has a kind of whispery almost nasely purr, when she does purr. She is the bigger of the two cats, both are pretty big. not fat, just big.

Minnie
Until recently, Minnie has kind of kept to herself. Only letting us pat her for a few seconds, then it's like she realized she let her guard down and quickly leaves. She is very silly when she thinks no one is looking. I saw her once playing with the milk cap like it was a mouse. As of last night, she feels comfortable with us. she slept in our bed most of the night and part of that time she was laying on us. This morning she sat on my lap while I did my make up. She follows us around the house, usually (as of today) in front of us so that we will pet her. She won't let any one but Adam rub her belly and I think her new favorite thing, is to lay on Adam, where ever he is. It's pretty cute :)

The cats love each other. They like to hide behind corners when they know the other is coming, then jump out and scare the other. They sleep together, eat together and play together. When I am cooking or cleaning in the kitchen, they are both at my feet, either wanting attention, or just wanting to be there. Minnie will head but my legs when she is ready for attention. Camper will put both paws on my leg and start pawing and "clawing" (both cats are declawd, so there is no hurting when they claw), then when I look at her, she's down on her back, waiting for a rub. We love our kitties so much already, and we've only had them a week :)

Where the drugs are

So we're currently moving. Well, we're mostly moved, just need to finish cleaning out the old place. but that is a different post. Adam has been being a good man of the house and making sure I don't even have to help with the big stuff (dressors, futons, bed, etc...). He got it all loaded while I was at work. Our neighbor (old apartment neighbor) came out to see what was going on. Now, our neighbor, we're not sure what his name is, but we call him Lamar. Lamar sounds almost EXACTLY like the creepy old guy on family guy, so imagine him talking in the whispery, high pitched voice. Here is the conversation between him and Adam.
Lamar: are you guys moving?
Adam: ya, just getting all the big stuff out now
Lamar: Oh, well that's nice. I was living somewhere nice, but they wouldn't let me keep my cats, so I came here.
Adam: well that's good that you can have them here.
Lamar: Where are you moving to?
Adam: Springville
*Lamar's face changes from a pleasant smile to total shock*
Lamar: That's where the drugs are... my daughter lived out there and that's where all the drugs are. you better be careful
Adam: Oh really, well that's good to know.

So just so everyone knows, we are now living where the drugs are :)

New Year Word(s)

I found this idea on a friends blog. When I read it, I didn't plan on doing it. I didn't think I could come up with a good word. Then it stuck with me and 3 words came to mind. They are words that I consciously think about every day, in the effort to better myself and help those around me, enjoy being around me. The meaning is really cool. I like this idea better than New Years Resolutions. Here is the idea:

Can you identify a single word that sums up what you want for yourself in 2009?

Your word can be anything you want it to be - it does not have to be soulful, or clever, or original. It can be practical and tangible. Don't worry if someone else has chosen the same word as you - this is just for you. You don't have to be creative - just be true.

The idea behind the one little word concept is to give yourself something to focus on throughout the year. "A single word can be a powerful thing. It can be the ripple in the pond that changes everything. It can sharp and biting or rich and soft and slow."

It can be something tangible or intangible. It could be a thought or a feeling or an emotion. It can be singular or plural. The key is to find something that has personal meaning for you. This is not your mother's word or your spouse's word or your child's word - this is YOUR word.

One little word can have big meaning in your life if you allow yourself to be open to the possibilities. And here's one thing that is totally interesting: sometimes a word will pop into your brain and it will not make any sense to you right now. Give it some time. Let it percolate a bit. I have often found that our hearts speak to us in very unique ways. Maybe this is a word you need to hear but just aren't ready for it yet. Again, be open to the possibilities.

Isn't it a wonderful idea!

My words for 2009 are:

I want to be more productive. I want to use my time more wisely. There is always so much to be done, and some times it overwhelms me to the point that I just don't do it until my list is longer than it should be. I know it can be done. I know that others can stay on top of things, so why can't I? I know it's because my time isn't as organized as it should.

I drink too much soda. I eat too many cookies and milk. I eat too much candy. I don't eat enough vegetables. I don't eat enough fruit. I need to eat healthier. I want to be healthier. I'm going to try and have more fruits for breakfast and more vegies with dinner. Maybe I'll take the stairs instead of the elevator... I just want to be a more healthy me.

It is so much easier to see the negative. to see what people are doing wrong, what others should do to improve your own situation. I want to be the change. I want to see the positive in everything. When something or someone gets me down, I need to look at it through their eyes, and not just my own.

Filling my cup

The week of Christmas, my spiritual cup was filled fast. It started Tuesday when Adam and I had the opportunity to go through the temple with one of my closest friends and her husband. It was their first time through and our first time back since we got married. It was so peaceful. I forgot all of my Christmas stresses, I felt closer to our Heavenly Father and my husband. I am so grateful I was able to be there for my friend on her special day.

The next day was Christmas Eve. Adams dad gathered all of the grandchildren on his lap and asked them about the true meaning of Christmas. It's amazing how smart they are and how much they know about our savior and how he came to us.

Then Christmas Day. We got to be with both of our families and feel close to everyone. We got to talk to my brother who is in Chile. It was so good to talk to him and hear his voice. He comes home this year. We are all so excited to have him back. With all of us there talking to him, our family felt complete for a minute.

Saturday after Christmas, Adam got to baptize our nephew Landen. It was so neat to see my husband performing the ordinance. Both Landen and Adam had a glow afterwards. I couldn't help but smile and feel so proud.

That night we went to Temple Square with my family to see the lights and watch the movies they have up there, as is the tradition in my family. I love that temple. We hadn't been back to that temple since we got married. I couldn't help but fall further in love with my man. While there, we watched the Joseph Smith Movie. What a wonderful man and movie. Then we watched the Testements. Both such fabulous movies. I'm glad I got to see and feel it all with the ones I love.

I love the Christmas season and am so grateful to have so many wonderful people to share the season with.

My week of pain

So it all started last Thursday. Well, I suppose it started before that. The saturday after Thanksgiving, I started to feel myself teething. My third wisdom tooth was coming in. Not the funnest experience. I decided I wanted to wait until after Christmas to get it removed. The pain increased. I hadn't ever experienced such pain with a new tooth. I knew I couldn't handle it until after christmas, so I made an appointment with the dentist to get the tooth removed the next day.

With my past wisdom teeth, it has been a peachy experience. He numbs me up, and the tooth comes right out. 10 minute procedure, including letting me get numb. 3 ibuprophen later and I'm just fine and never have any problems. That is what I expected with this one. boy was I wrong. He gives me 5 shots for the one tooth. He tells me it's very infected. He trys to pull my tooth. no luck. He starts pushing, as hard as he can, on my tooth. He's holding on to my mouth with one hand, and pushing with the other. He breaks tool after tool after tool trying to get the tooth out. Turns out he has to widen my jaw to get the tooth out. He tried to cut my tooth in half and take it out in pieces. no luck. He tried a few times to pull the tooth out only to have the pliers (?) slip off my tooth and hit my top teeth. that didn't feel so good. 45 minutes later, the tooth comes out. It is huge. Turns out it was partially impacted and the roots were going the wrong way, so it ripped up my gums all the way out. ya. it hurt.

After I got home, I was numb. I didn't expect too much pain. More than with the last tooth, but not much. All of a sudden, my mouth is throbbing. It was a pain I had never experienced before. I took a lortab and a few ibuprophen and soon the pain was less, but I was still in so much pain I was crying. My mom called the dentist to see if there was anything else he could do. He prescribed some antibiotics because there was a lot of infection. I stayed loyal to my drugs and antibiotics.

Almost one week later and i am still in constant pain. pain meds lower the pain, but I was litterally in constant pain. Adam and I decided I probably had a dry socket. So tuesday morning, when i almost couldn't go in to work because of the pain, Adam called the dentist to see if he could see me that day to see what was going on. So I had my boss come in for an hour so I could go get it checked out. He told me he thought i probably had a dry socket. Said he could smell the infection, but it didn't really smell like dry socket. I thought i just had that bad of breath :S. He tells me he is going to numb me up and clean out the socket and that I probably just had some food stuck in there. It took 5 shots to get me numb enough to be able to squirt water in and clean it out. The dental assistant also took an xray to see how everything was looking. He got me numb and started cleaning me out. Then we see the x-ray. THERE IS SOMETHING METALIC IN MY JAW!!!! it looks like it's in the socket, so he starts digging around. He re-opens my socket, pulls out my clot, and tries to find this "foreign metalic object". i can feel him scraping my bone. Digging around and turning my already raw gums, into even finer hamburger. After about 30 minutes of digging around, he determines that he can't get it out and that I need to go to the oral surgeon to get it out and that this is the reason I have been in so much pain. He sets up the appointment for me for the next morning at 8 am. great. an hour and a half after i left his office, my gums feel like they are being ripped to shreds. oh my gosh, it was a pain i have never felt before.

So wednesday morning, I go in to have this foreign object removed. They had to put me out, and cut the object out. I was scared out of my mind. so i made jokes. lots of them. well, at least me and my mom thought they were funny. I believe the procedure took all of 10 minutes, but boy am i glad i was out while they did it. When I came to, I was very loopy and for some reason, I couldn't help but cry. I kept trying to crack jokes, but i just sounded and looked so sad, cuz i was crying. i tried to tell them they did a great job at keeping me alive, but it sounded like i was serious and wasn't sure if they could do it cuz tears came and i sounded pathetic. i couldn't help it. it was actually kinda funny. I then came home and slept for 4 more strait hours. This time i got percacet.

oh, i forgot to tell you all. The "foreign metalic object" was a piece of the dentists tool. It ended up in there when he was trying to get the stupid tooth out. Needless to say, now that I have had it out for 36 hours, I feel MUCH better than I have for an entire week. It's amazing how aweful your body will make you feel when you have something in you, that shouldn't be there.

I am so lucky to have such a wonderful and supportive husband and mom. They took turns taking care of me and being with me when I was in so much pain and on the heavier medication. Adam was up with me in the night, getting me ice, more meds and holding me tight when that's the only other thing that would help. My mom spent days with me while Adam had to work. Made me soup and anything else we thought I could eat (still couldn't eat much of anything. probably won't be able to till next week). I am so blessed to have so many that are willing to take care of me. :)

The tooth on the left is the wisdom tooth I had removed one month ago. The one on the right is the one I had removed last week. What an ugly monster of a tooth

This is the x-ray that shows the "foreign metalic object" lodged somewhere in my mouth

This is the x-ray after it was removed. Notice how my socket is no where near as defined as the previous x-ray.

Blog Worthy

Before I even get into this, I will give you some background on todays topic. When I was 16 and first started driving, I drove a Saturn. It had a little tank. It only took $19 max to fill it up. Those were the days. Last year in May, I bought a new car. A Nissan Altima. It's tank is 16 gallons. When I first bought it, it only cost $30 to fill up. I thought that was a good deal considering how big of a tank it was. Then prices started to rise. I ended up paying $75 a tank. That sucked. Bad. So last night I had to get gas. The needle was below empty. I went to Macey's to fill up. I ended up putting 15.5 gallons of gas in my car. I was AMAZED at how much I spent. $24.78!!!! I have NEVER paid so little for gas in this car. Less than $25 to fill up my car from emtpy!!! wow!!! I was so excited, I immediately called my mom. wow. what a wonderful day :)

On a completely different and much less happy note, I am teething. again. This is the worst yet. my back right wisdom tooth is coming in. It hurts TONS worse than that it did to get it the other tooth pulled. Guess I'm glad the dentist gave me lortab for the last one!!

Health Nut

I am not a health nut. I love my junk food. I love the stuff that is bad for me. Deep fry just about anything and I will love it. To counter my junk food addiction, I try to eat healthy for breakfast. Lately I have been eating yogurt. Strawberry Yogurt to be precise. In the last month or so of eating it every day I have come to the realization, I hate yogurt. It makes me gag. I can only eat a little at a time. I don't finish them. I only like the strawberry kind. But most of all, it makes me gag every time. Even thinking about it now, my gag reflexes are getting prepared. Yogurt. not my thing.

Good Husband.

I have the best husband.

Adam and I both had to go get some dental work done this morning. As I have said before, I HATE going to the dentist. I had a couple fillings AND got a tooth pulled. I got happy gas for the first time. It made me think I was relaxed, but when I thought about it, I realized my entire body was very tense and had to try and relax again. The work was painless plus I got to watch Kicking and Screaming. However, my ENTIRE face was numb when I left. I felt like the whole lower half of my face looked similar to an elephant... well, that's what i felt like at least.

Now that we are home and it's more than 5 hours later, only half my face is now numb and feeling fat. When we got home Adam went and filled the prescription the dentist wrote for me, then came home and started doing the dishes, cuz he knew it would help me relax, then made me lunch that i couldn't feel or taste. Then he took a nap with me. He was supposed to go in to work for an hour, but he made arrangements so he could stay home and take care of me. He is the best. I love him so much. I have the best husband ever :)

Boise, Idaho

When I married Adam, I instantly became an aunt. I now I have 4 nephews and 2 nieces. LOVE it :D. a few weeks ago, our new niece was going to be blessed, so Adam and I went up to be a part of it. Just as we were going to leave, Adams parents, who were also going up for the blessing, called and said that the roads were awful and that they had to turn around. We had both taken the day off and I knew that if we didn't go somewhere, I would end up cleaning and doing laundry, while Adam watched football. I did NOT want to do that. So we decided to see how far we could make it. If the roads were too bad, we'd pull over and get a hotel, but if we could get through, then awesome. The roads were still bad when we went, but we decided to drive slow. Even though we went slow, we still ended up on the side of the road. Good thing a nice guy pulled over with a truck and tow ropes to get us out.

Once we made it safely through, we got to Brandon and Stacy's house, Adams brother and his wife. We LOVE going there. They have 2 cute kids, Ben and Lilly.

Ben LOVES Lilly. he always wants to touch her and says "hi sis!" "love ya sis!" so cute

When you play with uncle Adam... you get squished...

Lilly is SUCH a sweet baby. i got to hold her for long periods of time. my fav :)

before we left, Adam showed me around his favorite parts of Boise. This is at the BSU stadium. I wanted to go on the blue turf, but the gates were locked. next time :)

Up at Table rock, looking over all of Boise

We decided to take a short cut through a crack in the rocks.

Now that gas is so much less expensive, we plan on going to Idaho more often. They ended up postponing the blessing to 3 weeks later so that Adams parents could come. We were more than ok with that, it meant we got to come up again!! We are hoping to go again in the next few weeks and maybe go to a BSU game. We ♥ Idaho

My Lists

Some days just don't go the way I would like them. We all have those days. I go over in my head all the things that have sucked so far. I email a friend regularly and tell her my list of things that suck. A different friend has made a conscious effort to list the good things in life. The things that make life fun and worth while. So I decided to try it too. I don't get rid of the bad stuff, I still vent it, but I counter the "things that suck" list with a longer list of things that make life great :)

Things that suck

1. When I can't get blogger to do what I want
2. Knowing I'm going to get yelled at
3. Snapping at my husband when all he wanted was a hug and a kiss as I walked by
4. Being so hungry so often
5. A messy house
6. Snow-on the car, on the road, on the ground where I step...
7. Over-due Library books
8. Bills/rent
9. Going to the dentist
10. Getting my teeth cleaned
11. Christmas Songs before Christmas

Things that I love
1. Hitting snooze just one more time to cuddle a little longer
2. I have a good job
3. Husband still loves me even though I'm not much of a morning person
4. Food :)
5. Time spent not cleaning is spent being with the man I love
6. Snow in the mountains
7. Fabulous husband (he counts lots of times :) )
8. Cooking
9. Stocking the cupboards with food
10. Good Family(s)
11. Good friends
12. Good customers
13. Freedom to vote (even if it doesn't matter)
14. Living so close to family
15. It's the beginning of my favorite Holidays
16. Dates with Adam
17. Knowing I get to keep Adam forever and ever
